featuring Juan Carranza - flamenco guitar; Juan Miguel Medina Flores - cajon, darbouka & djembe; Paul Mattsson - fretless bass; and Rae Bowhay in flamenco dance.
We saw Juan & co. at The North Country Fair. Beautifully powerful - profound and energetic. Elemental flamenco improv in traditional & nuevo forms, incorporating a spirited undercurrent of Latin and North African rhythms. Juan was first exposed to flamenco as a teenager in New York City when he met a gypsy musician who taught him rasqueado.
The band has already tried out the acoustics of The Beach House during a 2 day stop-over last week. Was inspiring to hear the old wood-beams rattle with the deep song of flamenco. All acoustic, this will be a very special and intimate evening - please book early.

On March 27, 2004, The Beach House presented in Concert.
Kristin's beautiful debut recording, 'Root, Heart & Crown', was produced by Ken Whiteley and includes performances by legendary bassist George Koller and Ken Whiteley, Stephen Fearing, Rebecca Campbell, Ben Grossman, Anne Lindsay and more.
Kristin's concert was a magical experience full of images of love lost, love found, dragons and fire and bold knights and strong lovers and believers of kindness; musical illuminations of high light. Kristin is destined for true greatness... her power is in her unique artistic expression coupled with her soulful voice and guitar paintings. We'll see much more of Ms Sweetland in the times ahead.
