'MOVIE ACTION PAGE'.

Dear Reader,

Thank you for visiting my Movie Action Page.

i am a huge fan of documentary and guerilla films. i love to make movies about things like amazingly potent and creatively beautiful people - and the astonishing activities they partake in.

i love to make movies about corrupt elected leaders.

The purpose of this 'Movie Action Page' is to explore and create movie or documentary scripts that are in harmony with what people around me are feeling. If you want to contribute ideas, or if you'd like to use any of the ideas here for your own movie, please feel free to do so. You can write to me at: thebeachhouse@telus.net

i'm here to write and create, but most important - i'm here to have fun too.

i love to be in music, in a song or in the guitar or whatever - dancing.

If you feel like it, spread the word.

Thank you. See you soon.

'Votes Make All the Difference'

In Canada we get to vote. Yay! They open the bars at 8 on election day. I think. But in this film we explore the fundamental materialization of different philosophies in the world, and how voting has the real potential to change the course of events, and how as voters, we do have the potential to help create a better world.

For example:

Voting for Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada clearly appears to be a vote for Canada to increase its military capability.

Canadians are in possession of a priceless legacy of being a nation of intelligent and progressive thinkers who support peace keeping initiatives. Justice, education and peaceful disarmament, and the material implementation of same, are progressive ideals that are attainable in a world linked by the flow of information through internet and the media. The support Canadians have traditionally offered to these progressive ideas in the form of peacekeeping and mediation, has not gone unnoticed in the eyes of the world. Our continued support of peace and justice is essential in order to help further the material implementation of global peace and prosperity.

In the eyes of people all around the world, some of Stephen Harper's words and actions have been damaging to one of Canada's most powerful assets; Canada's continued pursuit of peace, justice and reason. As a result, Canada may be losing its reputation as a progressive nation and a champion of peace.

If a vote for Harper is a vote for militarization, it is in essence a vote that supports the idea of armed conflict - and that vote may ultimately support the idea of attaining peace through violence and war; an out dated philosophy that is proven regressive.

Canadians are much wiser than that. Canadians are progressive thinkers whose ideas are more potent and ultimately more powerful than the old ways of war. Progressive ideas of non-violent sustainability are self perpetuating. A wisely placed vote helps us all create a better life on this earth.

Consider a few facts, make up your own mind, and please vote when the time comes.

Peace produces peace - there is no retreat.

This is war:

1. Every minute, 30 children die for want of food and inexpensive vaccines. And every minute the world's military budget absorbs $1.3 million of the public treasury.

2. The US now devotes more than $200 billion a year to military defense against foreign enemies. Yet 45% of Americans are afraid to go out alone at night within one mile of their homes.

3. Every soldier in the average world military expenditure is $22,000. For every school aged child the average public expenditure is $380.

4. The cost of a single nuclear submarine equals the annual education budget of 23 developing countries or 160 million school age children.

5. For every 100,000 people in the world there are 556 soldiers but only 85 doctors.

This is war. War pays. Literally. War contributes to growth and development.

'THE BEAVERS AND THE ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS'

This film will clearly reveal how the beaver, a small furry animal that builds dams out of sticks and mud, is more intelligent than the Army Corps of Engineers.

Movie Action item number 1:

In 1960, in the St. Clair river that flows between the U.S.A. and Canada near Sarnia, Ontario, the Army Corps of Engineers proceeded to deepen the river channel with a huge machine called a dredge. The result of this action is that the output water flow of Lake Superior, Lake Michigan and Lake Huron now exceeds the input water flow. Consequently, the water level in the 3 largest of the Great Lakes has dropped in the last few years, and continues to drop. How far it will drop remains to be seen. After much hulabaloo, the Army Corps of Engineers has decided to do a study of the situation.

Footage of: Beavers in Canada's wilderness building a beaver dam. Note that the beavers are highly diligent in their efforts to create themselves a home and they are extremely gentle on the environment around them, contributing in positive ways that are sustainable to a harmonious and delightful life.

Note too how the beavers build their dam and raise the water level in the beaver pond to exactly the correct level to sustain themselves. Note in particular the very common sense logic that the water level in the dam is controlled by the depth of the flow over the dam. While the dam itself may be hundreds of feet long, there is a very specific place in the dam constructed to allow water flow. The beavers can understand that if the channel in the water flow is deepened, the level of water in the dam will drop. They understand that the output flow of the dam must equal the input flow, or the water level will change. They can see that if the water level rises due to increased input flow such as rain or snow melt, because of the 'V' shape of the output channel of water, the extra input is easily handled with a minimum rise in the level of water in the dam. This is so because as the water rises in the basic v-shaped channel, the added width of the channel increases the possible output water flow exponentially. Conversely, if the output channel from the dam is deepened at the bottom of the 'V', the water level will drop until the output flow matches the input flow. This is very simple logic that any child can understand. The beavers know it by instinct.

Footage - cut to: Aerial shot of the Great Lakes of north America. An ecological miracle left over from previous ice ages, the input flow of these lakes matches the output flow in a powerful but extremely delicate balance that has set the lake levels at their current depth for millions of years. Just like the beaver dam, the rivers flowing out of the lakes and between the lakes are responsible for maintaining the level of water in the lakes. Any change in the volume of water coming in or going out of the lakes will affect the water level. Spring snow melt results in a torrent of water from thousands of rivers and stream that flow into the lakes, raising the level only slightly each year. That's because of the vast size of the lakes and because the effective 'V' shape of a lake means 1 inch of water above normal expands exponentially sideways, and easily absorbs the excess water of spring run-off or rain. Also, the level only changes slightly because spring run-off is an annual event, not perrenial situation that raises the input flow over an extended period of time.

What has occured in the St. Clair river is clearly an increase in the output flow of the 3 big lakes that exceeds the average input flow. Over time, it is obvious that the increased flow will seek a balance, reducing the water level in the top of the natural 'V' shape of the lakes and rivers in the system.

The true but hilarious part of this story is that the beaver, a small furry animal, is obviously more intelligent than the entire Army Corps of Engineers. Any child can see that. As a Global Village of Human Beings, maybe we ought to withdraw our trust in the heretical and quite un-intelligent actions of the Army Corps of Engineers. It may be that we will do much better with the smart old beaver as our fearless leader...

'HUNKY DORY CROOKS RULE THE WILD WEST'

Movie Action Item Number 1:

OUR WATER

In Edmonton, we have a beautiful river that almost everyone avoids because it is polluted and poisonous. In fact, if you join the raft race here, you are required to get a Tetanus shot because of the potential to contract diseases in the river. At this time, our beautiful river is a sewer.

To all of us here, the pollution in The North Saskatchewan River is disgusting, and it makes us all feel sad about ourselves. We must take steps to change the polluted state of our river.

In fact, the polluted state of our rivers and our air is a very serious crime, knowingly perpetuated by politicians and big business men who like to call themselves community 'leaders', but who are, in fact, common criminals.

Returning the river to it's natural, unpolluted state will remove a powerful, negative thought from our minds - and replace it with a powerful, positive and healing vision - a vision that:

1. soon it will be safe to swim and play in the beautiful, pristinely clean river in our home town.
2. we can change our place on the earth in an intelligent, progressive, and very powerful way.
3. reveals to us that to remain silent, and feeling sad, about our river is not our only option. We can choose to be vocal, and feel grateful, about the state of our river.
4. our children will learn from us that one way to help create a happy life is to respect the river.

So - there is no shortage of great stuff to make documentary movies out of in my home community. I mean, this is the stuff of classic criminality. Especially when you realize that my community is the richest community on earth outside of Qatar.

We already have great footage of many high ranking public and elected officials engaged in criminal activity. Tons of it. This is going to be a very interesting film...

My Community

My community, Rossdale, in downtown Edmonton, Canada, is very important to me. I love it here, and i really hope it soon becomes, and remains, the profoundly beautiful place it really can be.

To be certain, Edmonton is a most wonderful place to call a home. There is a great river valley through the city, and the artists and creative and productive people in Edmonton make it even better. As with some things in life, it's not so simple...

At this time, there are some very serious problems, especially with our environment, that must be changed here. In Alberta, the province in Canada where Edmonton is situated, there is tons of oil money, and more important, the Provincial Government has in the past, and continues to subsidize our oil industry (the oil industry in Alberta has always been profitable, even with zero subsidy) with many billions of dollars every year. Yet astonishingly, our rivers are badly poisoned and our air is the worst in Canada, polluting millions of square miles downwind, eastward from Alberta across Canada and the U.S. and Europe and Scandinavia. The reason? Apparently, we cannot afford a clean river or clean air!

In fact, the pollution of our air and water is illegal in Alberta, yet these crimes continue with no attemp from law enforcement to address the crimes or the criminals in any way.

More examples of chronic problems here include:
The city planning department has been, and continues to be muted with threats to their job security, allowing hucksters to capitalize on rising real estate prices and destroy plenty of historic houses in the process; public transport is minimal because the backroom boys like everyone to burn a lot of gasoline; and the homeless population keeps growing because 'they really don't deserve a free ride', according to some. The list goes on and on.

I have a vision of a much more understanding and helpful government, one that steers our social norms toward justive and fairness, rather than wildly throwing out regulations and allowing the market for oil to totally rule vital decisions, all the while a small group bath in oceans of money as the province slides toward the age old demise of industrial abuse and impossible to sustain social scenarios. It feels tragic to me to see this happening in the place where my grand parents lived and worked so hard with optimism and hope for the future.

Living here in Edmonton and knowing this abuse of public trust is occurring, inspires me to express to others the situation I'm witnessing in my home land.

The situation greatly inspires me to make interesting movies...

COST - WHO WILL PAY?

'Always the idea of change is great until it has to be paid for'. So the politicians say. But there is the difference between a politician and a leader. What's the difference, you may ask? In the case of pollution, it is always more economical to be more efficient. Real leaders know this, because it is obvious to everyone - it is common sense. Politicians seem to think that ordinary people don't understand something so complicated as efficiency equals economy.

In fact, there already exists in the world many complete working models that clearly demonstrate that zero pollution is more profitable than dirty, sloppy industry that pollutes the environment. It is a proven fact. The nation of Sweden is one example of where to find out exactly how to make efficiency pay. Sweden offered to share all of their information with Canada in 2003. The Canadian politicians and big businesses said "No thanks - we want to do it our way".

Umm, excuse me? What way is that? Do they mean maintaining the current status-quo and creating more pollution and a wreaked future, so the current crop of sleazy politico-business criminals can keep their carefully constructed payback/kikback schemes in place?

Fact is, a politician or so called 'leader' may tell you we can't afford to be pollution free, but it is clear, people who say such things are ignorant of reality...or they are liars. A real leader would never say such a thing, because it simply is not true.

Leaders - or Politicians?

Political process is sometimes necessary, but a real 'leader' will avoid politics whenever possible, and will help the community in sustainable and intelligent ways. We must be vigilante about who we elect to administer our communities. Some aspiring leaders have vastly different agendas than others. We must vote - and vote carefully. Our children's future depends upon our wisdom as voters.

THIS PAGE EXISTS BECAUSE:

This page exists to help promote my vision of a peaceful and tranquil earth, filled with harmony among all.

This page exists to help promote my vision of beautiful, and productive, and happy, and creative lives for us all.

This page exists to help promote clarity in a sometimes murky world.

This page exists to identify local problems that are chronically in need of attention in my community.

This page exists to help define the needed action to address the chronic problems in my community.

This page exists to present a clear statement to our elected leaders of a few of my most urgent requests for ACTION in my community.

This page exists to express my expectations of the leaders in my community.

This page exists to publicize and inform the public in general of the state of existence of my community, especially the public in:
The City of Edmonton
The Province of Alberta
The Country of Canada
and yeah - the entire beautiful world, my sweet friend!

This page exists to expose corruption among elected and appointed leaders in my community, and to promote the common knowledge to the citizens in the community, of the current corruption in local and provincial administrations, and of the necessity to be aware of the corruption and potential corruption in all public administration sectors.

This page also exists because I am a selfish human being who is very tired of watching our so-called 'leaders' serve themselves and their greedy friends as they see fit, while ignoring the needs of our community and our children's future.
